New Delhi: 

The respite to BRS leader K Kavitha from appearance before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in the Delhi excise policy case will continue as the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned her petition challenging the agency's summons to February 16.

A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal deferred the matter after senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Kavitha, said the matter may be listed for final hearing.

Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, appearing for the ED, told the court that Kavitha is avoiding summons and not appearing before the agency.

Mr Sibal then said that the ASG had assured the bench in September last year that the agency will not call Kavitha, a Lok Sabha MP, for questioning till the court hears her plea challenging the summons.

Mr Raju said that was only till the next hearing.

తెలంగాణ భవన్‌లో ఏర్పాటు చేసిన బీఆర్ఎస్ విస్తృతస్థాయి సమావేశంలో కేసీఆర్ మాట్లాడారు. తాము అప్పుడు బీఎల్ సంతోష్‌కు నోటీసులు జారీ చేశామని, పోలీసులు బీజేపీ కేంద్ర కార్యాల‌యానికి వెళ్లినట్లు తెలిపారు. ఈ క్ర‌మంలోనే దుర్మార్గుడైన ప్రధాని నరేంద్ర మోదీ... బీఆర్ఎస్‌పై క‌క్ష కట్టారన్నారు. క‌విత‌పై ఎలాంటి కేసు లేదు... క‌క్ష క‌ట్టి అరెస్ట్ చేశారని విమర్శించారు. అందుకే క‌విత‌ను కుట్ర‌పూరితంగా మ‌నీలాండ‌రింగ్ కేసులో ఇరికించార‌న్నారు.

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha till May 7 in connection with the money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.The court also extended the judicial custody of the Aam Aadmi Party's alleged fund manager for the Goa elections, Chanpreet Singh, till May 7.Notably, the court's decision comes a day after Kejriwal's plea seeking daily consultation with his doctor was rejected.

To recall, Kejriwal is awaiting the Supreme Court's verdict on his plea challeging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the case, while Kavitha is awaiting her bail plea's outcome at Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on May 2.The ED alleges Kejriwal's involvement in forming the policy and soliciting ₹100 crore in bribes for the AAP's poll campaigns.Separately, Kavitha is accused of playing a key role in the "South Group"—which allegedly offered funds to the AAP for liquor licenses.

Meanwhile, Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation while already in jail in the ED's case earlier this month.She was arrested by the ED on March 15.Like Kejriwal, Kavitha has denied the charges and questioned the timing of the ED and CBI actions against her, which occurred weeks before the general election.Both the leaders are lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
